Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

When you create a RiffCharts account, we collect your email address, username, and any profile details you choose to add — bio, location, social links, and avatar. When you upload a song, video, or picture, we store the file, its title, and any metadata you provide (album, genre). We also collect ratings, favorites, and comments you post. If you consent to Advertising cookies (see Cookie Preferences below), Google and its advertising partners may also collect information through cookies placed in your browser.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to operate your account, display your public artist profile, calculate Riff Scores from community ratings, and show your uploaded content to other users. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

RiffCharts uses cookies and similar technologies in three categories: Essential (keeps you signed in and remembers basic preferences like your theme — always on, since the site can't function without them), Analytics (measures site traffic so we can understand and improve RiffCharts), and Advertising (powers Google AdSense — see the next section). You can review and change your Analytics and Advertising preferences at any time on our Cookie Preferences page.

4. Google AdSense & Third-Party Advertising

RiffCharts displays ads through Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, and its advertising partners use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to RiffCharts and other websites, to show ads that are more relevant to you and limit how many times you see the same ad. No ads are requested from Google and no advertising cookies are set unless you've consented to Advertising cookies on our Cookie Preferences page — you can withdraw that consent at any time. You can also opt out of personalized advertising directly through Google's Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) or, for participating third-party vendors generally, through the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out page (optout.aboutads.info). Turning off Advertising cookies disables ads on RiffCharts entirely for you, but does not affect Essential or Analytics cookies.

5. Analytics & IP Address

To measure site traffic — such as visits and unique visitors — we log the IP address of each request together with the page viewed, for logged-in and anonymous visitors alike. This data is used only in aggregate, for internal analytics, and is never sold or shared with third parties. You can opt out of this tracking at any time using the Analytics toggle on our Cookie Preferences page.

6. Content You Upload

Songs, videos, and pictures you upload remain yours. By uploading, you grant RiffCharts a license to host, display, and stream that content on the platform so other users can listen, watch, rate, and comment on it. You control whether downloads are enabled for your songs.

7. Sharing & Third Parties

We use third-party service providers to operate RiffCharts, including Cloudinary for media hosting and Google AdSense for advertising (see above). When you use the Share buttons, you're taken to that platform's (Facebook, X) own sharing flow, which is governed by their privacy policy, not ours. We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

8. Your Choices

You can edit or delete your profile information, remove uploaded songs, videos, or pictures, and delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account removes your public profile and uploaded content from RiffCharts. You can change your Analytics and Advertising cookie preferences at any time on our Cookie Preferences page, and opt out of personalized ads directly through Google's Ads Settings.

9. Children's Privacy

RiffCharts is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without legally required parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
